POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Georgia Southern women's basketball coach
Chris Vozab was inducted into the Our Lady of Lourdes High School Hall of Fame at a dinner last week at Dutchess Country Club.
Vozab scored 1,239 points and averaged more than five assists per game while helping lead the Warriors to four sectional and league titles as well as a state championship. She was a two-time first-team all-state selection and earned USA Today Honorable Mention All-America honors. She was
Poughkeepsie Journal Player of the Year twice and shared the Isabel Costa Award, the highest honor in Section One in her senior year.
"Our program was rich in tradition," said Vozab. "The legacy left by those before us meant a great deal and was what we aspired to emulate. To have been recognized in this way is very humbling and truly a great honor."
Vozab joins coach Brian Giorgis and teammate Maureen Magarity in the Lourdes Hall of Fame. Giorgis went on to become the head coach at Marist, where he has led the Red Foxes to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, and Magarity is entering her fifth season as the head coach at New Hampshire.
Vozab enters her third campaign at the helm of the Georgia Southern program. She has led the Eagles to Southern Conference Tournament victories in each of her first two seasons, and Georgia Southern returns three starters and eight letterwinners to the 2014-15 squad.
