
Women's Tennis Prepares for #64 Furman and Wofford

STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's tennis faces two SoCon opponents at the Wallis Tennis Center this weekend. The Eagles battle #64 Furman on Saturday, April 5th at 10:30am, and Wofford on Sunday, April 6th at 1pm. Sunday's match is the last home match of the season, and the seniors (Paola Garrido and Caitlin Kitchen) will be honored for their contributions to the program. The Eagles hold a 9-9 record overall, and 3-4 in the SoCon.
Last time out, GSU dominated USC Upstate 4-0. Taking the doubles point early on, the Eagles entered into singles play with a 1-0 advantage. Stephanie Woods and Giulia Riepe each earned wins, and Mary Phillips Smith clinched the match in the No. 6 position, taking down Sarah Vande Berg, 6-4, 6-2.
#64 Furman heads to Wallis Tennis Center with a 13-5 overall record, and remain undefeated in the SoCon. The Paladins overcame Chattanooga 4-3, and Wofford 7-0, putting them at the top of the SoCon standings.
The Wofford Terriers hold a 5-12 record overall and are 1-6 in the SoCon. The Terriers battled #71 Samford, and #64 Furman, this past week, and dropped both matches 7-0. Wofford faces Appalachian State this Saturday before they travel to Statesboro.
