STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's tennis was victorious on Thursday at the Wallis Tennis Center, defeating Wofford 5-2. The Eagles hold an overall record of 10-10 and 4-5 in the SoCon. Head coach Amy Bonner held a ceremony prior to the match recognizing the two seniors, Paola Garrido and Caitlin Kitchen, for their contributions to the program.
In doubles competition, the Eagles took the point with victories from Stephanie Woods and Giulia Riepe, and Jordana Klein and Mary Phillips Smith.
At No. 1 singles, senior Paola Garrido handily took down Sarah Evans, 6-1, 6-0. Jordana Klein defeated Audrey Coventry in the second singles position, 6-3, 6-4. Giulia Riepe clinched the match, earing the 4th point in the No. 4 spot. Mary Phillips Smith overcame Mareli Sanchez, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6, in the 5th singles position.
The Eagles will compete in the Southern Conference Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee, beginning on April 16th-19th.
