Storylines: The Georgia Southern Eagles are off to their best start since 2009 but are set to host one of the top teams in RPI for four games this weekend. The Holy Cross Crusaders rank 17th in early season RPI after splitting a four-game series with Mississippi State and winning one of four against Charleston Southern. The Eagles rank second in the NCAA with a .348 batting average and lead the nation in runs, runs per game, hits, doubles, home runs and slugging percentage. GSU's hot start has the Eagles receiving votes in the latest National College Baseball Writers Association Poll.
Promotions: Its Bulloch County Elementary School weekend at J.I. Clements Stadium this weekend. All students from BCES get into the games for free and their family members can purchase a discounted ticket for $5. Saturday is Georgia Southern Family Weekend and the concession stand will be selling "Last Chance" Southern Conference souvenir cups with unlimited popcorn and soda refills for $8 on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is also Father/Daughter Day and Junior Eagle Club Sunday Funday.
Series History: Georgia Southern and Holy Cross have met only once in a three-game series in 2010. The Eagles took the first two games of the series at J.I. Clements Stadium before the Crusaders salvaged a game on Sunday with a 3-2 victory. The Eagles opened the series with a 19-7 victory behind 21 hits on Friday night. Shawn Payne recorded five hits and plated four runs, while Kyle Blackburn hit a three-run homer. GSU took the series with a 13-10 win on Saturday. Victor Roache hit a two-run homer in the victory.

Ga. Southern: Georgia Southern is off to their best start since 2009 and improved to 10-2 with a 3-1 week. The Eagles hit six home runs in a 20-5 win over Ohio on Sunday, their first game with six long balls since 2009, and now have 20 home runs through 12 games. The Eagles hit 32 in a full season a year ago. GSU leads the Southern Conference in batting average, slugging percentage, runs, home runs and is second in the league in ERA. The Eagles have 10 or more hits in all but three games this season and scored 20 runs for the second time this season on Sunday, the most 20 run games since 2009. Garrett Chapman holds a 12-game hit streak and has tallied a hit in every game this season. Dalton Busby has reached base in 10-straight games.
Holy Cross: The defending Patriot League Regular Season Champions, Holy Cross is off to a 3-5 start after taking two games from Mississippi State and one from Charleston Southern. The Crusaders are rated as the #17 team in the latest RPI rankings. After winning three of four games against Mississippi State and Charleston Southern, HC has dropped their last two contests to the Buccaneers 10-4, 12-7. The Crusaders have a long history, first starting baseball in 1876. They hold an 1829-1301-35 all-time record and won the 1952 NCAA National Championship. Their last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 1978.
Who's Hot: Aaron Mizell was named the SoCon's Player of the Week after going seven for 16 with seven RBI over a four game week. Mizell homered three times on Sunday with two coming in the 20-5 win over Ohio. ... Evan Ocello is hitting .441, 15 for 34, with three doubles and five RBI in eight games this season. Ocello has one of the team's two home runs.
