Women's Tennis Falls to UNCW 0-6

STATESBORO, GA- Georgia Southern women's tennis faced UNC Wilmington this afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center. The match was postponed from its original start time due to weather, resulting in only enough time for singles. The Eagles were defeated by the Seahawks, 0-6.

GSU's record drops to 4-6 overall. UNCW improves their record to 6-3.

Mary Phillips Smith was first to finish in the No. 4 spot, losing to UNCW's Alyssa Ritchie, 6-1, 6-0. Caitlin Kitchen was defeated by Alix Theodossiou, 6-3, 6-0. Jordana Klein, playing in the No. 2 spot, fell to Olga Blank, 6-2, 6-3. Stephanie Woods dropped to Annika Sillanpaa, 7-6(3), 6-2. Senior Paola Garrido played a close match against Angie Sekely, but was defeated, 6-7(5), 6-1, 10-5. Giulia Riepe lost to Christine Kharkevich, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.

The Eagles return to action March 8th at Chattanooga, match time at 2pm.
