Jelani Hewitt Named NABC All-District

Redshirt-junior guard averages 19.4 ppg in 2013-14 season

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern standout guard Jelani Hewitt has been named All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Hewitt was named to the District 22 second team following a vote of the district's member coaches.

Hewitt led the Southern Conference in scoring through the regular season, averaging 19.4 ppg over the 34 games this season. He scored over 20 points in 19 games and posted double-digit scoring in 31-of-34 games this year.

A native of Miramar, Fla., Hewitt now owns the single-season free throws record at Georgia Southern in the Division I era with 153 made free throws. He will enter his senior season in 2014-15 with 1,264 career points which ranks 25th all-time at Georgia Southern.
