
Swimming and Diving Defeats Davidson and Howard

DAVIDSON, N.C.- Georgia Southern swimming and diving competed in the Davidson Duals Friday and Saturday, January 31st and February 1st, and secured 2 out of 3 wins. The Eagles defeated Davidson College 180-173 and Howard University 300-35, but lost to #23 ranked Liberty University 220-129.
"It wasn't pretty, but we came up with a win against Davidson," said head coach Nathan Kellogg. "Coming into today, we were down by 6 and I'm very proud of how we rallied. It was a great team effort."
On Friday, GSU placed second in the 200 Medley Relay. Amber Juncker placed third in the 1000 Free, finishing in 10:29.73. In the 50 Free, Elaina Lanson finished second, and in the 200 IM, Lauren Campbell secured third. Christina Moran placed second in the 100 Back. Kristen Bates came in first in the 100 Breaststroke. Lauren Campbell finished third in the 200 Butterfly. Sara Meisenhelder scored 261.35 in the 1-meter dive, finishing in 3rd place.
On Saturday, Sara Meisenhelder and Emma Weisel placed third and fourth on the 3-meter dive. In the 400 Medley Relay, GSU placed third. Elaina Lanson earned third in the 100 Free, and Christina Moran and Lauren Campbell took second and third in the 200 Backstroke. Kristen Bates placed second in the 200 Breaststroke. In the 400 IM, Lauren Campbell posted a first place finish. Sara Meisenhelder finished second on the 3-meter dive, scoring 255.45. In the 200 Free Relay, GSU's Christina Moran, Megan Heller, Elaina Lanson, and Rebecca Alves placed second.
Overall the Eagles secured 2 more wins, bumping their record up to 9-2. The Eagles next meet is the CCSA Championships, in Knoxville, TN on February 19-22.
