Men’s Soccer Hosts NJIT for Pivotal Sun Belt Match

The winner of Sunday’s match goes top of league with one round remaining
STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer faces NJIT on Sunday afternoon in the regular season home finale for the Eagles. The contest starts at 2 p.m. from Eagle Field with first place in the Sun Belt Conference on the line. Admission for the match is free with video streaming available on GSEagles.com.

EAGLES ONE POINT OFF THE MARK
Georgia Southern is currently in a two-way tie for second place in the Sun Belt Conference entering the penultimate round of league play, and just one point off first place. The Eagles are tied with NJIT for second place with both teams in possession of a game in hand over Hartwick.

FALLE NAMED DEFENSIVE POTW
Georgia Southern goalkeeper Jack Falle was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on October 28th. Falle picked up a win over App State last week and was also named Defensive POTW on September 2nd.
JUNIOR RANKED AMONG NATINOAL LEADERS
Goalkepeer Jack Falle enters the weekend as the No. 5 ranked goalkeeper in terms of saves per game with 6.0 saves per game. He is also eighth nationally in total saves with 78 this season.
CRAZY FINISH
Georgia Southern was part of one of the craziest finishes in NCAA soccer history on Tuesday when the Eagles and Tar Heels combined for four goals in 83 seconds in the 85th and 86th minutes of the match. Adam Abdellaoui scored twice for the Eagles in the 6-2 loss to UNC which snapped a five-match shutout streak for the No. 6 ranked Tar Heels.
EAGLE OFFENSE GETS THE GOALS
Offensively the Eagles are ranked 28th nationally and tops in the Sun Belt with 1.85 goals per game.
SPREADING THE GOALS AROUND
This season, 11 different Eagles have combined to score the team's 24 goals. Dalton Churchwell, Josh Ward, Adam Abdellaoui, Landon Barrow, Nick Wells and Thor Svienbjornsson have scored opened their scoring accounts at GS with goals this year.
SUN BELT TOURNAMENT COMING SOON TO STATESBORO
Along with joining a new conference, Georgia Southern Men's Soccer will have another first in November of 2014 when the Eagles host the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. It will be the first time that the Eagles have hosted a postseason men's soccer tournament at Eagle Field.
NEXT TIME YOU SEE US…
The Eagles will be on the road next week with a trip to face Georgia State next Saturday in Atlanta. Georgia Southern will be back at home for the Sun Belt Tournament beginning on November 13th from Eagle Field.
