Savannah State Information:[Stats] [Roster] [Schedule] [@SavStateTigers]Georgia Southern won two Sun Belt matches at home last weekend and is riding a three-match win streak heading into Tuesday's non-conference contest with Savannah State. The contest against the Tigers will be the Eagles annual Dig Pink Match and Georgia Southern's final non-conference contest.
The Eagles have won six straight and 15 of their last 16 matches in Hanner Fieldhouse (the Eagles played their first four home matches this season at Statesboro High School because the Hanner was being renovated).
Eagle senior
Jamie DeRatt needs 124 kills and 149 digs to reach 1,000 for her career. Senior
Kym Coley is 218 kills away from 1,000 for her career.
With 37 assists at Georgia State Oct. 8, junior
Kat Minnerly passed 2,000 for her career and has moved up to sixth on the school's list, 395 helpers shy of fifth. She has tallied 50-plus assists in a match nine times in her three seasons as an Eagle.
Avery Stephens collected career highs of 24 digs and seven assists in a 3-0 win over UL Monroe Oct. 17.
Coley has been named one of 30 candidates for the Senior Class Award for excellence, both on and off the court. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship in December.
The Eagles faced three top-20 teams and six opponents from Power-5 conferences in its first nine non-conference matches this season.
