Competition Continues Tomorrow At 8 a.m.
DAILY RESULTS
STATESBORO, Ga. – In day one action at the ITA Regional Championships, four Eagles took to the court. To begin the day, Mary Phillips Smith and Anne Kurzweil battled the University of Georgia duo of Lauren Herring and Silva Garcia and fell 8-3.
In B Doubles action, Jordana Klein and Giulia Riepe received a bye in the round of 16 and will face the Georgia State duo of Rasolomalala/Rehse in the round of 8 Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on the campus of Georgia Tech.
The A Singles bracket saw Jordana Klein fall to Paige Hourigan of Georgia Tech 6-3, 6-1 and Mary Phillips Smith defeated by Florida International's Yana Koroleva 6-2, 6-4.
Both Klein and Smith will compete Saturday in the A Singles Consolation Bracket. Klein will take on Alizee Michaud of Stetson not before 10 a.m. while Smith will battle the University of South Florida's Hailey Grillo at 9 a.m.
In B Singles, Riepe took on Marisa Ruiz of Florida Atlantic University and lost 7-5, 6-0. Kurzweil did not compete in B singles today as she advanced automatically to the round of 16 thanks to a bye in the round of 32. Kurzweil will take on Eveline Lepinay of Stetson with their match not to begin before 3 p.m.
