
Eagles Host Howard for Men’s Soccer Senior Day

Kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Eagle Field
STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer will face Howard on Saturday night in the annual Senior Day contest at Eagle Field. The match starts at 7 p.m. and will also feature a Blue Out as well as the 2014 GATA Game. Four Eagles will be honored in a pregame ceremony at the friendly confines.

SENIOR DAY 2014
Prior to Saturday's contest, Eagle fans will have an opportunity to thank its four seniors. Josh Ward, Rocco Bagley, David Vargas Masis and Ethan LaPan will be recognized for their contributions to the men's soccer program at Georgia Soutehrn.
FIRST PLACE EAGLES
Following the opening round of Sun Belt play, Georgia Southern leads the league on goal difference over NJIT. Both teams are level on three points from their first match, but with a superior goals difference, the Eagles retain first place entering their second match of the league season.
GATA GAME
The GATA Game, a tradition hatched by athletics director Tom Kleinlein, brings Georgia Southern student-athletes from across the department together by supporting each other. Each sport has one designated GATA Game contest where Eagle Athletics gathers to support each other.
SPREADING THE GOALS AROUND
This season, 12 different Eagles have scored goals for Georgia Southern entering the league opener. Dalton Churchwell, Josh Ward, Adam Abdellaoui, Landon Barrow, Nick Wells and Thor Svienbjornsson have scored opened their scoring accounts at GS with goals this year.
FIRST MATCH AGAINST HOWARD
On Saturday the Eagles face the Howard Bison for the first time on the futbol pitch. It is not, however, the first game of any kind against Howard following the 2012 football game between the programs in the annual homecoming contest that season.
SUN BELT TOURNAMENT COMING SOON TO STATESBORO
Along with joining a new conference, Georgia Southern Men's Soccer will have another first in November of 2014 when the Eagles host the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. It will be the first time that the Eagles have hosted a postseason men's soccer tournament at Eagle Field.
NEXT TIME YOU SEE US…
The Eagles are on the road for back-to-back matches to wrap-up the month against Appalachian State and North Carolina. Georgia Southern returns to the friendly confines on November 2nd for the regular season home finale against NJIT.
