STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Basketball's Jelani Hewitt has been named SoCon Mid-Season Player of the Year by CollegeHoopsDaily.com. The redshirt junior averaged 20.5 points per game in the first half of the 2013-14 season and is a two-time Player of the Week honoree by the league office.

Hewitt was also named to the mid-season all-conference team where he was joined by Stephen Croone (Furman), Trey Sumler (Western Carolina), Z. Mason (Chattanooga) and Tim Williams (Samford).

Georgia Southern Men's Basketball hosts Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon, January 11th, at 2 p.m. inside Hanner Fieldhouse. The game is Bulloch County Board of Education and Service Members Appreciation Day. All employees of the Bulloch County Board of Education as well as Bulloch County Fire, Police and EMS can purchase tickets for just $1.
