¦ Georgia Southern begins its Western North Carolina road swing at Western Carolina Saturday at 2 p.m.
¦ It's the first of two scheduled meetings against the Catamounts this season.
¦ The Eagles are 2-2 in their last four and all four contests have been SoCon games. Georgia Southern suffered a 79-66 home setback against Davidson in its last contest Jan. 18.
¦ Georgia Southern is 2-6 on the road this season and 1-1 in road league games.
¦ Anna Claire Knight ranks third in the SoCon and leads GSU in scoring at 15.7 points a game. The junior has scored in double figures in 15 of the last 16 outings. She recorded the first triple-double in program history and the 11th in the country this season with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists at Samford Jan. 6.
¦ MiMi DuBose, who is averaging 10.4 points a contest, enters the game second in all-time 3-pointers (165) at Georgia Southern, two away from first, held by Svetlana Trjeskal (1995-99). The senior scored 16 points at Chattanooga Jan. 4 to top the 1,000-point mark for her career. She played in her 100th career contest vs. Davidson Jan. 18.
¦ Senior Lacie Dowling averages 8.5 points a game, and sophomore Briana Jones is averaging 7.8 points and 8.2 rebounds and has four double-doubles this season.
¦ Senior Danielle Spencer is leading the SoCon in rebounding with 9.0 a game and is 24 boards shy of becoming the 18th Eagle in school history to top the 500 mark for her career.
¦ Western Carolina has won two of its last three and is coming off a 67-52 setback at Elon Sunday.
¦ The Catamounts are 5-1 at home this season and 1-1 in league home games. The loss came against SoCon leader Chattanooga Jan. 11.
¦ Ten Catamounts average 10 minutes a game or more, and Justin Taylor leads the team in playing time with 24 minutes a game.
¦ Rena Wakama leads Western Carolina in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.9 points and 4.4 rebounds a contest.
¦ Lindsay Simpson scores 9.6 points a game and leads the team with 28 3-pointers.
¦ Taylor averages 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game.

Series History
¦ The Eagles lead the all-time series 34-17, but Western Carolina has won five of the last eight games.
¦ Six of the last nine meetings have been decided by six points or less and two have gone into overtime.
¦ The Eagles have lost three straight at the RAC.
¦ The series began with a 73-65 Eagle win at Western Carolina Jan. 16, 1982. GSU won the first eight meetings.
¦ Last meeting (3/8/13): Meredyth Frye collected 22 points, six rebounds and three steals to lead Georgia Southern to a 68-51 victory over Western Carolina in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament in Kimmel Arena.
¦ Frye was 6-of-11 from the floor, hit three 3-pointers and made 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
¦ Anna Claire Knight tallied 16 points and four assists for the Eagles, and MiMi DuBose scored seven points and matched a career high with eight rebounds. Alexis Sams and Ronnesha Smith each scored seven.
¦ Lindsay Simpson led Western Carolina with 14 points, and Kristen Lyon scored 10.
¦ After Georgia Southern took a 13-point lead on a Smith jumper with 7:02 left, Western Carolina's Erika Joseph scored four straight points in a 6-0 run to trim the margin to seven points with just over five minutes to go.
¦ Frye hit a pair of free throws for GSU, and the teams traded baskets over the next two minutes as the Catamounts kept cutting the margin to seven and Georgia Southern kept pushing it back to nine.
¦ DuBose hit a layup for GSU to make the score 58-49 with 2:12 to play, and after the Eagles got a defensive stop, Knight scored on a layup to push the margin to 11. The Eagles got another stop, forcing Western Carolina to foul. Knight and Sams each went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe inside the last minute to seal the victory.
¦ Last meeting in RAC (2/13/13): Simpson scored 19 points, and Western Carolina held Georgia Southern to 28 percent shooting in the first half to earn a 63-52 victory.
¦ Frye led Georgia Southern with 20 points to go along with seven rebounds. Danielle Spencer posted 10 points and eight rebounds, and Knight collected 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
¦ Simpson was 8-of-17 from the floor for Western Carolina, and Shauna Terry collected 13 points and eight boards. Diamond Hunnicutt finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
¦ The Catamounts built a 27-19 halftime lead thanks to a 12-4 over the final 7:02 of the first half. Hunnicutt led the charge with five points during the run, and the Eagles finished the half with 11 turnovers and were held to 7-of-25 from the field.
¦ The lead would grow to as many as 15 points on an Ali Lane 3-pointer with 6:13 left in the game. The Eagles would not go away and cut the margin to seven points twice inside the last two minutes. A 3-pointer by Alexis Sams and a conventional 3-point play by Frye sparked the run, but Hunnicutt hit a runner with the shot clock winding down to make the score 57-48 with 1:28 remaining.

¦ Danielle Spencer has two double-doubles this season. The senior had 12 points and 12 rebounds against Jacksonville State (11/16) and 12 points and 17 rebounds at Jacksonville (11/24).
¦ Spencer notched her 400th career rebound at Mercer (12/4) and played in her 100th career game at Chattanooga (1/4).
¦ Lacie Dowling tied the school record with eight 3-pointers against Detroit (11/30) and scored a career-high 26 points in the game. She shares the record with Allie Rousseau, who notched eight triples vs. Appalachian State Feb. 8, 2000. The performance helped Dowling earn all-tournament honors at the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament.
¦ Dowling has played in every game this season and started the last 16.
¦ Anna Claire Knight is 204 points away from 1,000 and 55 rebounds away from 400 for her career. The junior has two career double-doubles and has started the last 32 contests.
¦ Sophomore Briana Jones, who sat out last season after transferring from James Madison, has four double-doubles in her first campaign playing for the Eagles. She has started every game.
¦ Senior Jordi Cook is one game played away from 100 for her career. She was one of three Eagles to play in all 31 games in 2012-13.
¦ Sierra Kirkland scored a career high 11 points at Chattanooga (1/4). The sophomore has played in every game in her career.
¦ MiMi DuBose has played in 82 straight games and made 78 consecutive starts.
¦ The Eagles' 79 points against Detroit (11/30) are the most they have scored since posting 80 in an 87-80 home setback to Chattanooga Dec. 4, 2010. GSU's 11 triples in the contest are the most since hitting 11 against Davidson Jan. 8, 2010. The Eagles also scored 79 points against Wofford (12/16).
¦ The Eagles improved to 29-9 in home openers with their 63-50 win over Jacksonville State Nov. 16.
¦ For the first time in four seasons, Georgia Southern opened conference play at home.
¦ Since the 2010-11 season, Georgia Southern has five losses by one point and 14 losses by five points or less.
¦ Georgia Southern dropped to 23-18 in season openers after falling to Auburn 69-59 Nov. 9.
¦ With their loss at No. 7 Kentucky Nov. 13, the Eagles fell to 0-14 against ranked opponents since the 2000-01 season.

SoCon Honors
¦ Anna Claire Knight was named the SoCon Player of the Week Jan. 7 after averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and six assists in two games and posting the first triple-double in program history with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists at Samford.
¦ Knight was named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career Dec. 18.

Happy 40th
¦ This is the 40th anniversary of women's basketball at Georgia Southern.
¦ The Eagles began competition in the 1973-74 season.
