STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's tennis opens the 2014 season with Stetson University and Presbyterian College this weekend, January 25th and 26th. Both Saturday and Sunday's matches are scheduled for noon at the Wallis Tennis Center.
"The team is excited to kick off the season this weekend," said head coach Amy Bonner. "They have been preparing hard during the off season to be ready for team play and they are looking forward to coming together this weekend as we face two strong non-conference opponents. We added two newcomers to our team this semester that will really give us some more depth to our roster. The two new faces along with the experience the returners gained from the fall will give the team a lot of confidence as they start the spring season. We look forward to taking the courts for the first time and competing again as a team."
The Eagles finished off fall play with some great wins at the Wofford Terrier Invite in Spartanburg, SC, where they faced players from Western Carolina, Wofford, Mercer, Garner-Webb, Presbyterian, and UNC Asheville. Paola Garrido finished on top in the Gold Singles flight, defeating players from UNCA, Gardner-Webb, and SoCon opponent Western Carolina. Jordana Klein also secured some wins at the tournament, beating players from Presbyterian and UNCA.
The Eagles face the Stetson Hatters on Saturday, January 25th at noon, and compete against the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Sunday, January 26th also at noon.
