
Swimming and Diving Downs Radford Highlanders

STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern swimming and diving dominated the Radford Highlanders on Saturday afternoon at the Aquatics Center. The Eagles soared in every event, scoring 143 points total to the Highlanders 88.
"We are very pleased with our performances today," said head coach Nathan Kellogg. "Collectively, we performed much better than last week. Coming off of an intense training cycle and being home certainly played a big factor in that, but we are gaining confidence as we move forward."
The Eagles started the meet off strong securing the top three finishes in the 200 Medley Relay, putting the first 15 points on the scoreboard. In the 1000 Free, Kylee Parsons, Lauren Campbell, and Katlyn Jones cinched the top three spots, followed by Elaina Lanson, Amber Juncker, and Megan Heller taking first through third places in the 200 Free. Rebecca Alves, Anna Battistello, and Abbie Lavallin finished first, second, and third in the 50 Free. Continuing the trend, Kristen Bates, Catie Schmitz, and Devan White finished in the top three in the 200 IM. Radford's Sarah Fredericksen finished first in the 100 Butterfly, just in front of GSU's Christina Moran and Abbie Lavallin. In the 100 Free, Megan Heller, Hannah Rogers, and Amber Juncker earned 16 points for GSU, by landing first, second, and third places. The Eagles took first and second in the 100 Backstroke with Sarah Schwartz and Anna Battistello. Kristen Bates finished first in the 100 Breaststroke with 1:02.46, breaking the pool record of 1:04.56 from Kim Zachensky at Gardner-Webb. Bates now holds the school record and the pool record.
Georgia Southern diver Sara Meisenhelder finished first in the 3 meter dive with a score of 272.55, earing 9 points for the Eagles. Emma Weisel snatched third scoring 254.25. In the 1 meter dive, Meisenhelder and Weisel took first and third again at 255.60 and 188.32.
The Eagles next meet is Januray 24th and 25th at home against Gardner-Webb and University of North Florida.
