
Eagles Post Season-Best Times at Will Wilson Citadel Invitational

Freshman Lord leads Eagles for third-straight meet
STATESBORO, Ga. – All eight Eagles posted season-best times at the Will Wilson The Citadel Invitational this morning in Charleston, S.C., as the Georgia Southern Cross Country recorded a third-place team finish. Freshman Ashton Lord was at the front of the pack for Georgia Southern for the third-straight meet and finished 13th overall. Times for five Eagles were ranked in the top 30.
"We really liked the course today, it was a brand new course for us, and and we saw several season-best times," said Georgia Southern Head Coach Marlo Mincey. "We wanted to see improvement from meet to meet and we definitely saw it today."
Freshman Brooke Stanley and sophomore Peyton Holm took the second and third spots for Georgia Southern as they finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. Freshman Katelyn Chancey and graduate Sherril McFarlane rounded out the top 30.
Georgia Southern will compete next weekend at the BSC Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., where the Eagles will be able to preview the course for the SoCon Championship on November 2nd.
