HAMPTON, Ga. – Freshman
Ashton Lord and sophomore
Peyton Holm finished one-two for Georgia Southern Cross Country for the second straight meet. Both Lord and Holm had top 50 individual finishes while the Eagles placed seventh overall at the 38
th GSU Invitational at Nash Farm Battlefield Park.
"The course featured some really tough terrain, and the heat is always a factor, and that affected everyone," said Head Cross Country Coach Marlo Mincey. "Our team is still recovering from the last three weeks of intense training and over the next two weeks, we definitely want to see our times get faster."
The Eagles took two trips around the 2K loop to complete the 4K course at Nash Farm Battlefield Park. Auburn, representing the Southeastern Conference, won the team title with four of the top 10 finishers. Chattanooga's Teghan Henderson posted the lowest time among all individuals.
The Will Wilson Citadel Invitational is the next meet for the Eagles and will be held at the James Island County Park Saturday, September 28
th. The following weekend, the Eagles will preview the course at Veteran's Park that will serve as the site for the Southern Conference championship as they will compete at the BSC Invitational in Hoover, Ala.
