Rifle Drops Close Meet to Wofford

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Competing in their first-ever meet as a program, the Georgia Southern Eagles women's rifle team lost a close 2180-2159 match to the Wofford Terriers at the SEARC CMP Clinic in Charleston, S.C.

Georgia Southern (0-1), competing in only the air rifle discipline, posted a solid effort in the program's first foray into collegiate rifle competition. Wofford (1-0) however, was able to pull out the victory in the end.

"I am extremely proud of how we performed against a seasoned veteran squad like Wofford," said Head Coach Tim Parks. "I told the team after the meet that I am amazed how far we have come in just a short time. I am confident that we will be able to build on this first meet and show improvement in our next outing."

The rifle team will return to action on Sept. 28. The Eagles will face North Georgia in their second meet of the 2013-14 season on the road in Griffin, Ga.
