Women's Tennis Heads to Western Carolina for Final Regular Season Match

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Southern Women's Tennis is headed to Cullowhee, N.C. for their last regular away match of the year. The Eagles (8-11, 3-6 SoCon) take on Western Carolina on Friday, April 12 at noon.

Western Carolina stands 1-13 on the year and has lost all eight conference matches so far. The Eagles lead the all-time series with Western 25-0.

"We've beaten that team the last few years but this year they're actually stronger than they've been in the past. I think we really need to use this match to prepare us one last time before we head into the SoCon tournament," said Head Coach Amy Bonner.

The Eagles are coming off a weekend split, losing 6-1 against Chattanooga before taking a big 5-2  Senior Day victory over Samford.

"I felt like last weekend, picking up that win against Samford, was a great confidence booster for the team. So I think between using that, and this match with Western, we'll be setting ourselves up on a high note for conference," said Bonner.

Most likely, the Eagles will enter the SoCon tournament ranked seventh out of the 11 participating teams, setting them up to play a first round match.

"You want to finish the season in the highest spot possible for the tournament but no matter where we finish this season, I feel like we're competitive with every single team in our conference. No matter where we feed in, I think we'll have a great shot at competing with anybody and have a great tournament," Bonner concluded.
