STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern continues its 13-game road swing this weekend with a trip to College of Charleston. The Eagles open the three-game set on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader and concludes with another 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
The Eagles will look to snap a six-game skid on Saturday with a return to league play. Last time out in SoCon play, GSU took a three-game sweep over Elon. Those games put the Eagles in first place within the SoCon with the only undefeated record in the conference.

Tabby Douberley went 4-for-5 in the Eagles’ last outing at LSU with a pair of RBIs to raise her aveage to .299 for the year. Her first inning double plated a pair of runs and gave GSU the early lead against the No. 13 Tigers. Shelby Morrill paces the GSU offense with a .345 average while Kourtny Thomas has seven home runs this season.
Last year the Georgia Southern won four-of-five over Charleston to take a 43-25 lead in the all-time series. The fifth and final game of the season was a 6-2 Georgia Southern victory to win the 2012 Southern Conference Softball Tournament and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Alexa Lewis, Andrea Tarashuk, Lexi Allen and Douberley each hit home runs in the game to give GSU the win.
Charleston took two of three games last weekend from Elon at home behind complete game victories from Hope Klicker and Stephanie Saylors. The pitchers combined to allow just one earned run with eight strikeouts from Klicker. The Cougars used the long-ball to win the games with Kristy Giragosian hitting a grand slam while Lizzy Vaughn’s homer in the second game sparked the come-from-behind win.
Next up for the Eagles is a trip to face Georgia on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
