Men’s Basketball Closes Road Swing at College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Less than 48 hours removed from a 21-point win over The Citadel, Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball returns to action on Saturday afternoon against College of Charleston at the TD Arena. Saturday’s game, at 4 p.m., will be broadcast as a part of the Southern Conference’s television package on WatchESPN.com
Cleon Roberts was the hero for the Eagles on Thursday with 20 points in the victory. He matched a career-high with four three pointers on the night as Georgia Southern dropped a season-high 12 points from the bonusphere.
C.J. Reed enters Saturday’s game needing just 12 points to reach 2,000 career points. He has been in double-figures for each of the last five games while averaging 17.6 points per game in each contest. Brian Holmes made his first career start on Thursday night against The Citadel and has scored in double-figures for the last two games.
Junior Eric Ferguson moved into 27th place in all-time scoring at Georgia Southern on Thursday night as he raised his total to 1,206 career points with 14 points off the bench. Over the last four games, Ferguson is averaging 15.0 points per game.
Andrew Lawrence is the top scorer for the Cougars with 13.5 points per game. He scored 15 points against the Eagles on January 17th inside Hanner Fieldhouse and posted 10 points on Thursday night versus Davidson. The Eagles took a 51-47 win over the Cougars in the game in Statesboro.
GSU is back at home for the final homestand of the 2012-13 regular season next weekend against Wofford and Furman at the friendly confines. The Eagles face the Terriers on Thursday night at 7 p.m. before facing the Paladins on Saturday at 7 p.m.
