Eagles Host Chattanooga in Alumni Day Doubleheader

STATESBORO, Ga. – With just 48 hours to recover, Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball will return to the hardwood on Saturday night for a pivotal home game against Chattanooga at Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles open a three-game homestand while looking for their fourth-straight win over the Mocs. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. following the Women’s Basketball game against Davidson which starts from 5 p.m.
Saturday’s game is Alumni Day at Hanner Fieldhouse with former Eagles being recognized at halftime of the contest. Georgia Southern is 9-13 on the 2012-13 campaign with a 3-6 mark in league play.
Eric Ferguson leads Georgia Southern with 14.1 points per game and scored 14 on Thursday night against Furman. C.J. Reed scored in the 20-point bracket for the third time this season and is averaging 12.1 points per game. He paced the Eagles in the month of January with 14.2 points per game.

Chattanooga has had the better part of a week to prepare for Saturday’s game following the Mocs’ 77-69 loss at UNCG. The Mocs are 8-13 on the year with a 3-5 league record. Z. Mason leads Chattanooga with 14.3 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest. Over the last seven games, UTC has allowed an opposing player to score 20 or more points each night including 41 from UNCG’s Trevis Simpson on Sunday evening.
Georgia Southern continues its three-game homestand on Thursday night against Appalachian State before facing Western Carolina on Saturday night in the Eagles’ first rematches of the 2012-13 season.
