¦ Coming off a four-game road trip, its longest of the season, Georgia Southern opens Southern Conference play at home against Furman Saturday at 5 p.m. It's the conference opener for the Paladins as well.
¦ It's the first time in four seasons the Eagles will open league play at home and the first of two meetings against the Paladins this season.
¦ Georgia Southern is 10-11 all-time in SoCon openers and 6-5 at home.
¦ GSU is 1-1 in Hanner Fieldhouse this season.
¦ The Eagles are 1-4 in their last five and coming off a 61-54 win at Mercer Wednesday.
¦ Junior Anna Claire Knight leads GSU in scoring at 14.6 points a game and has scored in double figures seven times this season.
¦ Senior Danielle Spencer leads the team in rebounding at 9.8 per game to go along with seven points an outing.
¦ MiMi DuBose, who is averaging 9.8 points a contest, enters the game third in all-time 3-pointers (150) at Georgia Southern, 17 away from first, held by Svetlana Trjeskal (1995-99). The senior is 61 points away from 1,000 for her career. DuBose is 10 games played away from 100 for her career.
¦ Furman enters the contest on a three-game winning streak and is coming off a 76-67 victory at High Point Tuesday. It was the Paladins' first road win of the season in five tries.
¦ 2013 SoCon Freshman of the Year Holli Wilkins leads the Paladins in scoring at 14.5 points a game. She is the daughter of former NBA player Gerald Wilkins and the niece of Basketball Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins. She netted 30 points in Furman's win over Anderson Nov. 30.

Series History
¦ Georgia Southern leads the all-time series, which began in 1986, 28-23, but Furman has won the last six.
¦ The Eagles preceded that stretch with a six-game win streak in the series from 2008-10.
¦ The Paladins have swept the season series in each of the last three campaigns.
¦ The Eagles are 14-9 against Furman in Hanner Fieldhouse and 0-2 under head coach Chris Vozab.
¦ Last meeting: Furman forwards Sarah Durdaller, Patrice Butler and Brittany Hodges combined for 34 points and 26 rebounds to lead the Paladins to a 57-48 victory over Georgia Southern in Timmons Arena Feb. 26, 2013.
¦ Meredyth Frye had 15 points for the Eagles and added five rebounds, while MiMi DuBose scored 13. Anna Claire Knight collected seven points and eight rebounds, and Ronnesha Smith logged five points and six boards.
¦ Durdaller finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds for Furman, and Butler had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Hodges scored eight points, and Teshia Griswold posted 12 points and five rebounds.
¦ The Eagles couldn't get anything going offensively in the first half as they hit 4-of-18 from the floor and logged 10 turnovers. A 6-of-8 performance at the free-throw line and some stout defense, which forced 13 Paladin turnovers and gave up just 31 percent from the field, kept them in the game.
¦ After Eagle forward Sierra Kirkland hit a free throw to make the score 13-12 in favor of the Paladins, Furman outscored GSU 11-4 for the final 7:23 of the half and went into the locker room with a 24-16 lead. Butler scored nine of her 11 first-half points during the run.
¦ Georgia Southern wound up shooting 27 percent for the game, while Furman shot 35 percent. The Paladins held a 44-32 advantage on the boards and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds.
¦ Last meeting in Hanner: Kaitlin Murphy scored 15 points, and Furman held Georgia Southern scoreless for the last 5:58 of the game to earn a 56-42 win over the Eagles Jan. 9, 2013.
¦ DuBose led the Eagles with 11 points, and Kirkland collected a career-high 10 points and seven rebounds. Danielle Spencer added eight points, four rebounds and blocked two shots.
¦ Murphy was 5-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-7 from the free-throw line for the Paladins, while Hodges contributed 13 points and 11 boards.
¦ The Eagles cut a seven-point Furman lead to 46-42 on a Frye putback with 5:58 to play. GSU got the defensive stops it needed but hit an offensive dry spell, missing on two odd-man fast-break opportunities, a couple of putbacks and the front end of a 1-and-1 at the free-throw line.
¦ Hodges scored four straight points, Erica Norwood added two free throws and Murphy nailed a jumper to push the margin to 12 points with 1:38 remaining and put the game out of reach.
