STORY LINES
- After back-to-back road games, Georgia Southern hosts Kennesaw State for the final game at the friendly confines in 2013 ... Wednesday's contest is the first for the Owls in Statesboro on the hardwood.
- Jelani Hewitt enters the KSU game as the leading scorer in the Southern Conference with 22.0 ppg and ranks 16th in scoring nationwide ... He recently scored 38 points against Campbell and has twice been named SoCon Player of the Week ... Hewitt was held to his lowest scoring of the season with 8 points on Sunday night at UAB ... He has scored in double figures 10 of 11 games this season and has gone over 20 points in scoring for seven of the 11 games this year.
- Hewitt was also named SoCon Player of the Month for November 2013, averaging 24.5 ppg in the opening month of the season.
- Tre Bussey ranks second in scoring for the Eagles, but paces the team in shooting from downtown with a 41.7% mark ... Overall, he has 19.2 ppg to rank third in the SoCon ... He has scored over 20 points in seven of the 11 games this season.
- Mark Byington is 12-10 as a Head Coach for his career.
- Angel Matias had a career night last week against South Carolina State with 22 points and nine rebounds ... The junior transfer scored a career-high and posted over 20 points for the first time in his career ... Overall, he leads the Eagles with 6.7 rebounds per game.
- Curtis Diamond led the Eagles in scoring last time out with 13 points at UAB ... He was called on to make his first starts of the season at the Cancun Challenge where he responded admirably ... He averaged 15 ppg in those two games and made 5 buckets from downtown against Presbyterian College, scoring a career-best 19 points.
