CHARLESTON, S.C.- Georgia Southern swimming and diving is on the road again this weekend, competing against College of Charleston and East Carolina University on Saturday, November 9th.
"We've been telling our women for the past two weeks that College of Charleston and East Carolina will be tight meets, and we certainly expect that," said head coach Nathan Kellogg. "Both teams have very good swimmers and divers. The key for us will be to come out with high energy and get behind each other. We are at our best when we compete for each other, as a team. We have a little more confidence since our opening meet of the season because everyone knows where they are and what to expect."
The Eagles opened their season with wins two weeks ago when they faced SCAD and Limestone College. GSU scored 185 over SCAD's 76, and 175 over Limestone's 86. Eagles Amber Juncker, Elaina Lanson, Kristen Bates, and Megan Heller all earned first place honors in their events.
Last time GSU's divers hit the boards, they competed against Clemson and Richmond. Sara Meisenhelder was the Eagles' top finisher with scores of 239.75 on the 3-meter dive and 222.10 on the 1-meter dive.
Last time the Eagles faced College of Charleston, Elaina Lanson, Kylee Parsons, Amber Juncker and Sara Meisenhelder all won two events to lead the Eagles. Kristen Bates and Courtney Harrison won the 100 and 200 breast events. Overall the Eagles topped College of Charleston 179-118.
The Eagles' last time meeting the East Carolina Pirates was in 2011, where they fell 193-99. GSU competed against East Carolina less than 24 hours after competing with College of Charleston. The Eagles secured many second place spots, but weren't able to notch as many points as the Pirates.
