On the Range
Georgia Southern caps the fall season by hosting the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate with North Florida. Fifteen schools will compete at the Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla., Monday and Tuesday.
This is the third iteration of the tournament which began in 2007 as the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate and was played at Savannah Quarters in Pooler, Ga., for the first four years. It became the Amelia Island Intercollegiate in 2011 and was played at Amelia National in Fernandina Beach, Fla., where North Florida captured the team title and boasted the top-3 individual finishers as well. After a year off, it's back again as the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate.
Georgia Southern won the first two team titles in 2007 and 2008, and Florida Gulf Coast, a 2013 participant, took home the hardware in 2010. East Carolina won the tournament in 2009.
This year's field features nine teams ranked in Golfweek's top-100, including the Eagles (69) and the Ospreys (63). Vanderbilt (18) is the highest-ranked team in the field, followed by GRU Augusta (38).
Georgia Southern is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Invitational at the Ocean Course last week. Will Evans took 14th and Scott Wolfes tied for 17th.
