
Men’s Golf Posts Solid Day 1 of NCAA Corvallis Regional

Four Eagles post even par or better
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Two players shot under par to lead the Georgia Southern men's golf team in the first round of the NCAA Championship Corvallis Regional Monday at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
The Eagles (-2) are in a tie for eighth place, two strokes behind fifth place. Purdue led the way with a -12, followed by #6 Arkansas and #17 Oklahoma's -9. Host Oregon State sits in fourth at -7 and then two teams are tied in fifth place at -4. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Finals. Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Harrison Sewell and Parker Claxton both posted one-under 70s to lead the way while Thomas Horne and Morgan Blythe shot an even-par 71. Blythe led the way with six birdies with Horne posting four and both Claxton and Sewell carding three apiece. Freshman Trace Carter shot a 74 in his first NCAA action.
The field features eight teams ranked nationally in the top 50 and 27 individuals ranked in the top 150.
