STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern men's soccer closes the regular season on Sunday afternoon at James Madison. The non-conference match starts from 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Eagles look to close a big week that included an upset win over No. 14 Furman on Tuesday night. Georgia Southern took the 2-1 overtime win on a pair of goals by Witt Carlisle. The senior has six goals this season is an early favorite for SoCon Player of the Week in the final week of the regular season.
Georgia Southern enters Sunday's finale at 7-9 on the year. GSU will enter the SoCon Tournament next weekend as the No. 6 seed following Davidson's win over Appalachian State on Friday night. The Eagles will be on the road against the No. 3 seed (either UNCG, Elon or Furman).
James Madison is 6-8-1 and lost on Wednesday night to former SoCon foe College of Charleston. The Dukes are 0-2-1 against common opponents, falling to Furman and UNCG with a draw against Stetson.
Georgia Southern's opponent for the SoCon Tournament will be announced this weekend following the final round of league matches.
