Veteran’s Park in Birmingham to serve as SoCon site for November championship
"This meet gives us the opportunity to increase our mental confidence so when we come back to this site (for SoCon Championships), we know what to expect and what improvements need to be made from this meet to next month," said Georgia Southern Cross Country Coach Marlo Mincey. "We want our team to mentally see themselves being successful here and from our preparation to our shakeout this morning, they are really excited about racing very competitively."
As many as 10 women's collegiate teams could run the course at Veteran's Park in Friday's meet, including the Birmingham Southern Panthers. The 82-acre park features professionally designed 5K and 8K trails and has played host to several national meets.
Last weekend, all eight Eagles posted their season-best times at the Will Wilson The Citadel Invitational with freshman Ashton Lord leading Georgia Southern for the third-straight meet. Brooke Stanley and Peyton Holm took the next two spots for the Georgia Southern for top-25 individual finishes.
