STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's soccer closes out regular season play on their home field against Davidson on Wednesday evening at 7pm. Currently the Eagles are ranked 8th, and need to win or draw to make it into the Southern Conference Tournament. If the Eagles lose against Davidson, their only way into the postseason is if Western Carolina loses against Appalachian State on Wednesday. GSU's and Davidson's records in the SoCon are identical, 3-5-1.
Last time out, the Eagles faced a tough loss to Wofford, 2-0. The Terriers scored early on in the first half, and again with less than a minute left in regulation. The Eagles weren't able to even out the scoreboard, resulting in a loss 2-0.
Last time the Eagles faced Davidson, they pulled off the win 1-0.
Alex Murphy gave the Eagles the win in the 83rd minute, striking the ball high across the face of goal, tricking the Davidson goalkeeper. The ball spun into the net, giving the Eagles the advantage 1-0, and the Wildcats weren't able to recover in the remaining seven minutes.
