Men’s Basketball Names Hewitt, Bussey and Baynham Team Captains

Eagles host Thomas University on Friday in an exhibition contest
STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men's Basketball has named redshirt junior Jelani Hewitt, senior Tre Bussey and senior Marvin Baynham as team captains for the 2013-14 season.
"These three players, Jelani, Tre and Marvin were selected by their teammates, and I think that is important because their teammates have seen their leadership," said Head Coach Mark Byington. "My goal is to give them ownership in the team. These three have taken pride in the team and I look forward seeing them implement their personalities and leadership styles within the team."
The Eagles open the 2013-14 season with a special "sneak peek" on Friday, November 1st against Thomas University. The Eagles will play an exhibition game against the Night Hawks from 7 p.m. at Hanner Fieldhouse. Admission is free and will give fans their first chance to see the Eagles play under coach Byington.
The 2013-14 season opener is on November 8th against Columbia International. The Eagles open homecoming weekend with a special concert by the Southern Pride Marching Band. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. with the pregame concert set to start immediately following the homecoming parade at 6 p.m.
