DuBose Selected Preseason All-SoCon in Coaches Poll
10/23/2013 2:22:00 PM | Women's Basketball
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern's MiMi DuBose has been named Preseason All-Southern Conference in the league's annual coaches poll.
DuBose averaged 12.4 points a game last season and was the only Eagle to start all 31 contests. The senior recorded double figures in the scoring column in 19 outings, scored 20 or more points seven times and led the Eagles in scoring 16 times. She ranked fourth in the league in 3-pointers made (1.8/gm) and 10th in the conference in free-throw percentage (.802).
Georgia Southern was picked to finish eighth in the Coaches Poll and seventh in the Media Poll. The media does not vote for a preseason all-conference team.
Chattanooga, which returns six seniors from last season's SoCon Championship team, was picked to win the league in both polls, and Lady Moc Ashlen Dewart was named Preseason Player of the Year. Both the media and the coaches had the same top six teams with Samford in second, followed by Davidson, Appalachian State, Elon and Furman.
Georgia Southern returns four starters and nine letterwinners, including four of its top-five scorers from last season. The Eagles open the season at Auburn Nov. 9, and play their home opener against Jacksonville State Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m., in a tripleheader with the Eagle volleyball and men's basketball teams.
Women's basketball season tickets are available for the 2013-14 season for $65. Georgia Southern University faculty and staff receive a $10 discount on season tickets.
