STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball closes January on Thursday evening with a trip to Furman. The Eagles will go for their second-straight win over the Paladins starting from 7 p.m. inside Timmons Arena. The Georgia Southern Radio Network will call all the action from the Upstate starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Eagles are 9-12 on the year with a 3-5 mark in league play, good enough for third place in the South Division. The Eagles topped Western Carolina on Saturday afternoon with a complete team victory, 72-66.
Senior Cameron Baskerville scored a career-high 14 points in the win over the Catamounts as he went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. The three-pointers were Baskerville’s first from the bonusphere since his sophomore year.
Fellow senior C.J. Reed also set a new career high with 11 assists in the win. He surpassed the 500 career assist threshold on Saturday afternoon and enters Thursday’s game with 507 career assists. Reed has 1,900 career points and needs to average 10.0 points per game over the final 10 regular season games to reach the 2,000 career points mark.
The Paladins enter Thursday’s game well rested with a week off leading up to the contest. Last time out, the Paladins fell to Wofford 64-50 behind 14 points from Stephen Croone. Senior Colin Reddick leads the Terriers with 12.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg.
Georgia Southern returns home on Saturday to open a three-game homestand with a doubleheader at Hanner Fieldhouse. Its Alumni Weekend in Statesboro as former Eagles return to Hanner Fieldhouse Hardwood for a halftime ceremony. Tipoff for Saturday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m., following the Women’s Basketball game against Davidson which starts at 5 p.m.
