STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern men and women’s basketball teams will host an Alumni Day at their doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 2, in Hanner Fieldhouse.
The women’s team tips off against SoCon preseason favorite Davidson at 5 p.m., and the men’s team hosts Chattanooga at 7:30 p.m. Each team has invited its alums back on campus for the game and will introduce and recognize them at halftime. Purchasing a ticket to the women’s game will allow for entry to the men’s game, and commemorative posters featuring Georgia Southern basketball alums will be given out at the door.
Georgia Southern women’s basketball Hall of Famers Phylette Blake, Regina Days-Bryan and Sharon Mitchell-Coleman are slated to be back on campus. Returning men’s basketball alums include former All-TAAC selections Brian Newton and Mike Stokes along with former coach Frank Kearns, who will be in the broadcast booth, and GSU Hall of Famer and current coach Charlton “C.Y.” Young.
The Eagle men are coming off a 72-66 win at Western Carolina Saturday and travel to Furman for a 7 p.m. SoCon contest Thursday. The Eagle women have won two of their last three and play seven of their final 10 regular-season games in Hanner Fieldhouse.
