Eagles Back in Action at Western Carolina on Saturday Afternoon

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – On less than 48 hours rest, Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball is back in action on Saturday afternoon against Western Carolina. The contest between GSU and WCU starts at 2 p.m. inside the Ramsey Center.
Georgia Southern (8-12, 2-5 SoCon) lost in overtime to Appalachian State on Thursday night, 64-62. The Eagles were down by 17 points in the final nine minutes of the game, but forced mistakes by the Mountaineers and mustered a 22-5 run down the stretch to force overtime.
The Georgia Southern Radio Network’s coverage of Saturday’s game is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. with the Citizens Bank Countdown to Tip-Off.
C.J. Reed has led the Eagles in scoring in each of the last four games. The senior scored 16 points against Appalachian State and needs 107 more points to reach 2,000 career points between his time at Georgia Southern and Bethune-Cookman.
Junior Eric Ferguson leads the Eagles in scoring for all games this season with 14.0 points per game. With 1,114 career points, Ferguson needs just seven points to pass Michael Curry for 31st place in all-time scoring at Georgia Southern.
Western Carolina (8-12, 5-3 SoCon) has lost three of its last four games and fell to Davidson on Thursday night, 75-74. Trey Sumler and Brandon Boggs each scored 22 points against the Wildcats.
Sumler has averaged 18.2 points per game overall and 20.4 points per game in SoCon games. The junior point guard ranks second on the SoCon scoring charts this year.
The Inside Georgia Southern Basketball TV Show airs on Monday evening at 6 p.m. on WTGS FOX-27. Chris Blair and Coach Young will discuss the games against College of Charleston and The Citadel.
GSU wraps-up their three-game road swing on Thursday, January 31st with a road game against Furman. The game from Timmons Arena starts at 7 p.m.
