Men’s Basketball Hosts The Citadel on Saturday

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball puts the bow on a three-game homestand on Saturday night by welcoming The Citadel to Hanner Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. Wins over Davidson and College of Charleston have moved the Eagles into third place in the SoCon South Division with a 2-3 league mark. The Citadel is 0-6 in SoCon play entering Saturday’s game after a 70-38 loss to Davidson on Thursday night.
Saturday’s game will be aired live for free on GSEagles.com. To access the broadcast, click on the “Watch and Listen” button on the main GSEagles.com homepage. The Georgia Southern Radio Network will provide the live call of the game across the network and online at GSEagles.com.
The Eagles (8-10, 2-3 SoCon) have won back-to-back games with victories over Davidson on Monday night and a win over College of Charleston on Thursday night. C.J. Reed has led GSU in both contests with 16 and 14 points each night, respectively.
Saturday’s game is Junior Eagle Club Day at Hanner Fieldhouse with members of the Junior Eagle Club getting free admission to the game and a chance to shoot baskets on the court after the game.
Eric Ferguson leads the Eagles in scoring this season with 14.4 points per game. The junior dropped 14 points against Davidson to go with three blocks on the night along with 11 points and two steals against College of Charleston.
The first episode of the Inside Georgia Southern Basketball TV Show airs on Monday night on Savannah’s FOX 28 WTGS at 6 p.m. Head Coach Charlton “C.Y.” Young will talks basketball with the Voice of the Eagles Chris Blair and recaps the North Carolina A&T, Wofford and Davidson games.
The Inside Georgia Southern Basketball Radio Show gets underway this Tuesday at 7 p.m. from Loco’s Grill & Pub in Statesboro. The show can be heard live across the Georgia Southern Radio Network and online at GSEagles.com.
The Citadel (3-13, 0-6 SoCon) is led by senior Mike Groselle. The center is averaging 13.8 points per game with 7.8 rebounds per contest. He scored seven points against Davidson on Thursday night with a team-high nine rebounds, four on the offensive glass. Last season, Groselle dropped 20 points with 14 rebounds at Hanner Fieldhouse.
Georgia Southern follows Saturday’s game with three-straight road games to close out January. The Eagles are at Appalachian State on January 24th before facing Western Carolina on January 26th.
