STATESBORO, GA. – With just 48 hours of rest, Georgia Southern returns home on Monday evening to face Davidson for the first time in the 2012-13 season. It will be the stiffest league test for the Eagles as the SoCon South Division leader comes to Hanner Fieldhouse for a game that starts at 7 p.m.
Georgia Southern Athletics will celebrate the start of the spring semester by honoring its Student Athletes that earned a 3.0 GPA in the fall of 2012 at halftime of the contest. Prior to tipoff, Eric Ferguson will be recognized for becoming the 39th member of the 1,000 point club at Georgia Southern.
Against Davidson the Eagles will look to earn their first league win of the year and snap an 11-game skid against the Wildcats.
Eric Ferguson leads the Eagle offense with 14.9 points per game. The junior posted a career-high five blocks in Saturday night’s loss at Wofford. Tre Bussey led GSU in scoring at Wofford with 12 points as the junior dropped a dozen for the second-straight game.
The Wildcats enter Monday’s game at 6-9 overall, but are 4-0 in SoCon games. The Preseason SoCon Player of the Year De’Mon Brooks anchors the Davidson offense with 14.0 points per game. Jake Cohen has 13.7 points per game to rank second on the squad. Cohen has 23 blocked shots this year while Brooks is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.
The Eagles continue their three-game homestand against College of Charleston on Thursday evening at Hanner Fieldhouse. Georgia Southern Athletics will honor its 2012 SoCon Champion Football, Softball and Women’s Soccer teams at halftime of the 7 p.m. game.
