STATESBORO, Ga. - The only current Eagle in Major League Baseball, Everett Teaford, highlights a group of 10 former Georgia Southern Baseball players who are continuing their careers in professional baseball.
Teaford returned from AAA Omaha on June 27th and went right to the Royals' starting rotation. Since being recalled, Teaford (2004-06) is 1-1 with a 5.51 ERA and picked up his first victory of the season at Toronto on July 2nd. The left-hander will remain in the rotation after the All-Star break and is scheduled to start on July 17th against Seattle.
Georgia Southern has a number of former players in the minor leagues, including Shawn Payne. Payne (2010-11) currently holds the longest stolen base streak in all of baseball and has yet to be caught in 32 steal attempts. He also leads the Augusta GreenJackets in batting average (.307), on-base percentage (.400) and slugging percentage (.429).

Payne's former teammate, Andy Moye, is 7-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 15 starts between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Brevard County Manatees. Moye (2008-11) is 2-1 with a 3.81 ERA in his last five starts in the Class A Advanced Florida State League.

Fellow pitcher, Jacob Brown, continues to have a solid minor league career at whatever level the Oakland A's place him. Brown is 3-5 with a 3.65 ERA in 11 starts for the Class A Advanced Stockton Ports.
Among the newly drafted, Victor Roache was the last to receive his first pro team assignment, but is joining the Arizona League Brewers in name at least. Roache's (2010-12) pro debut is still down the road as he continues to rehab his February 25th wrist injury, and the Rookie level team placed the first-round selection on the 60-day disabled list.
