Sarah Purvis Named SoCon Pitcher of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern's Sarah Purvis was named Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon. The sophomore pitcher recorded three wins on the week including her first collegiate no hitter a week ago against La Salle.
Purvis, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., recorded 37 total strikeouts on the week including 16 against La Salle. Her performance in the no hitter finished one strikeout shy of the school record of 16 strikeouts. She fanned 14 batters in the league opener against Samford, allowing just one run in the victory.
Georgia Southern returns to action on Tuesday afternoon on the road against Tennessee. The doubleheader from Knoxville starts at 4 p.m. and continues with a 6 p.m. contest. Following Tuesday's games, the Eagles travel to Mercer for a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.
