Former Eagle Men's Basketball great Michael Curry called in to Georgia Southern before Friday night's 76ers game with the Miami Heat. Associate Head Coach for the 76ers, Curry joined his mentor Doug Collins on the bench in Philadelphia for his 16th year in professional basketball.
Curry's No. 20 jersey was retired by Georgia Southern as he led the Eagles to three postseason appearances during his career (1987 NCAA and 1988 and 1989 NIT) and an overall record of 56-21 as a starter. He finished his career as the only player in school history to score more than 1,000 points and rank in the top 10 in rebounds, steals and field goal percentage.
After a long playing career in the National Basketball Association, including a four-year tenure as the president of the NBA Players Association, Curry became the Vice President of the NBA Development League.
