Georgia Southern Travels to College of Charleston

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball goes back on the road on Thursday night with a trip to face the College of Charleston. The Eagles look to add to their six-game winning streak, the longest active winning streak in the Southern Conference. Thursday's game can be seen live on ESPN3.com starting at 8 p.m.
Sophomore Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) continues his push for SoCon Player of the Year honors against the Cougars. The Eagle forward ranks in the top-six in five separate categories for the SoCon and sits 19th in the nation for field goal percentage with a .571 mark from the field.
The Eagles as a team are shooting .474 from the field to lead the league and place 34th nationally. Senior Willie Powers III (Gainesville, Fla.) has 5.5 assists per game to rank third in the league and 39th in the nation.
Thursday's game is Senior Night at College of Charleston. Antwaine Wiggins, the lone senior on the Cougar squad has 16.3 points per game and has scored in double figures 26 times this year in 28 opportunities. Charleston has won four of its last five games under Interim Head Coach Byington and enters the contest at 17-11 and 8-8 in league play.
Georgia Southern enters Thursday night's game with a magic number of just one to clinch a bye in the first round of the SoCon Tournament over Wofford. GSU needs a win in their final two games or a loss by Wofford to Furman on Saturday night. The Eagles are also in the race for the SoCon South Division Championship. The Eagles need a win over Charleston and a Davidson loss to Elon on Thursday night as well as a victory over the Wildcats on Saturday night to earn a share of the division title.
On Saturday night, Georgia Southern closes the 2011-12 regular season at home against Davidson. It will be Senior Night as both Ben Drayton III and Willie Powers III are honored in a pregame ceremony. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Hanner Fieldhouse.
