Eagle Men’s Basketball Hosts Webber International in 2012-13 Home Opener

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball returns home for the 2012-13 Home Opener on Friday night against Webber International. Special $5 general admission tickets are available for Friday’s game. These tickets can be purchased at the door by cash only.

Georgia Southern enters the Webber International contest at 0-2 on the year, falling 66-53 to Charlotte on Tuesday night in the Queen City. Eric Ferguson dropped his first double-double of the season against the 49ers, leading GSU with 11 points.
Freshman Cleon Roberts scored 11 points against the Niners, sharing the scoring lead with Ferguson. Overall this year, Roberts leads the Eagles with 14.5 points per game. Junior Tré Bussey has 10 points in each of the first two games of the year while averaging 31.0 minutes per game.
Last year the Eagles took a 84-61 win over the Warriors at Hanner Fieldhouse. Ferguson scored 18 points to lead all scorers while Bussey scored 12 points. All 15 Eagles played in the contest a year ago against the NAIA foe, shooting 45.0% from beyond the arc and 52.5% from the field.
The Warriors fell 87-54 to Wofford on their last outing and face South Carolina State on Thursday night in the second of three games against Division I opposition. Brian Pace led the Warriors with 17 points while Gabriel Rutledge scored seven points and had six rebounds for WIU.
Southern is back on the road this Wednesday night with a trip to Kennesaw State. The Eagles face the in-state foe at 7 p.m. Following the Thanksgiving break, GSU visits Maryland for a 7 p.m. game at the Comcast Center in College Park.
