Paskert Named SoCon Volleyball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Georgia Southern outside hitter Meredith Paskert has been named the Southern Conference volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced today.

The senior hit .362 and averaged 4.00 kills per set (44 total kills) in a 3-0 week for the Eagles. Paskert, who transferred to Georgia Southern from Kent State as a junior, went over 500 kills in her GSU career after posting 12 against UNCG Saturday. She had six service aces last week, including four in a 3-0 win at Davidson, and reached double-figure kills in all three matches, including 19 in the Eagles' five-set win over Elon Sunday. Paskert added 13 digs and three blocks on the week.

She leads the Eagles and ranks seventh in the SoCon with 275 kills this season, averaging 3.27 per set, and has reached double-figure kills in her last four outings.

Paskert is the third Eagle to earn a SoCon weekly accolade this season. Alexandra Beecher was named Defensive Player of the Week and earned Freshman of the Week honors, and Kate Van Dyke was named Student-Athlete of the Week.

Georgia Southern opens a four-match road trip at SoCon North Division leader and defending league champion Samford Saturday, Oct. 20, at 3 p.m.
