Fogle Named Softball Player of the Month

STATESBORO, Ga. - Marie Fogle (Rincon, Ga.) has been named Southern Conference Softball Player of the Month for March as announced today (April 7th) by the league office. The Georgia Southern outfielder had a banner month at the plate for the Eagles with seven home runs including five in SoCon play. She hit a league-best .441 batting average and earned two conference player of the week honors in the month.
Fogle slugged .868 in March with a .486 on base percentage while starting all 21 games for the Eagles. She was 30-for-68 with a pair of five-game hit streaks. She scored 21 runs while driving in 16 runs and stealing three bases.
Against Western Carolina (March 19 and 20), Fogle was 7-for-11 in the series with four home runs including a pair of first-inning leadoff home runs to open the series. The Junior hit a grand slam in game three of the series in the third inning to blow the game open. Fogle's slam made the score 9-3 and paved the way for a 12-3 Georgia Southern victory.
The Eagles travel to Elon for a three-game SoCon series this weekend which opens on Saturday (April 9th) at 1 p.m with a doubleheader. The weekend's action wraps up on Sunday, April 10th, at 1 p.m.
