SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the second-consecutive week, Georgia Southern Softball pitcher Allie Miles has been named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week. The honor, for games played April 18th through 24th, is the third this season for Miles. The freshman has not allowed an earned run in her last 25.0 innings of work, dating back to April 9th.
Miles, a Dacula, Ga. native, struck out a career-high 15 batters in Friday night's (April 22nd) six-inning 8-0 win over UNCG. That total ranks third on the Georgia Southern single-game list and was two shy of tying the school record. Miles picked up two wins against the Spartans, allowing three hits in 10 innings.
The Eagles close out the regular season this weekend on the road against Chattanooga. The three-game SoCon series begins on Saturday (April 30th) with a 6 p.m. game. Georgia Southern concludes the regular-season on Sunday, May 1st, at Noon for a doubleheader at Chattanooga's Frost Field.
The 2011 Southern Conference Softball Championships will be played at Georgia Southern's Eagle Field. Play begins on Wednesday, May 11th and will continue until a champion is crowned on Saturday, May 14th. For more information about tickets, please visit SoConSports.com.
