Women?s Tennis Returns to Action Against College of Charleston

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis team (8-6, 2-3 SoCon) returns to action after a week off from competition to play host to College of Charleston (11-7, 3-0 SoCon) Wednesday, March 30th, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hanner Tennis Complex. The match marks the halfway point in a six-match homestand for the Eagles.
"We are working hard to finish the season strong," said Head Coach Amy Bonner. "We face some of the toughest Southern Conference opponents this week and we are looking to come together and finish out the regular season on a high note."
Georgia Southern is led by senior Ali Beavers (Kingsport, Tenn.) who went to 11-2 in singles at the No. 2 seed with a three-set win over Elon's Bryn Knoury. The win marked Beavers seventh-straight victory. In doubles play, Paola Garrido (Vigo, Spain) and Caitlin Kitchen (Kennesaw, Ga.) are 4-1 at the top of the lineup, staying in the win column with four-straight wins.
College of Charleston travels to Statesboro after sweeping Southern Conference foes Appalachian State and Davidson on the road. The Cougars' Christin Newman is 10-6 at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Emma Hayman and Irene Viana are 10-4 on the season.
Georgia Southern continues conference play this weekend as it welcomes Chattanooga on Saturday (April 2) at 1 p.m., and Samford on Sunday (April 3) at 12 p.m. to Hanner Tennis Complex. The Eagles close out the six-match homestand with UNC Greensboro Friday, April 8th, at 2:30 p.m.
