STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern freshman guard Eric Ferguson has been selected to the Southern Conference Coaches All-Freshman Team as announced on Wednesday (March 2nd) by the league office. Ferguson is the ninth all-freshman team selection in program history and the first since Ben Drayton III was honored in 2009.
"I'm really happy for Eric to be honored for his freshman season," said head coach Charlton "C.Y." Young. "I think the great thing is that this is only the beginning for Eric. He has room to improve his game and the has the character and will to get better."
The Statesboro, Ga. native has posted one of the best freshman seasons in school history. He has the second-highest scoring output among Georgia Southern freshmen with 368 points. Ferguson ranks third on the Eagles' freshman blocked shots and steals list with 26 blocks and 46 steals, respectively.
