Eagles Face Mountaineers, Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball returns from short rest on Saturday night with a 7:30 p.m. tilt against Appalachian State at Hanner Fieldhouse. Fans who show their ticket from the football game will get half priced tickets to the roundball game. Arrive early, because the first 50 fans through the door receive free food from Chick-fil-A.
The Eagles posted a convincing 84-76 win over Chattanooga on Thursday night to move to 1-0 in the conference and improve to 2-4 on the season. The victory came as sophomore Jelani Hewitt (Miramar, Fla.) and senior Ben Drayton III (St. Marys, Ga.) each scored 20 points. Hewitt was a career-best 6-of-8 from beyond the arc while Drayton dished out six assists.
The Eagles are shooting 47% from the field this season and upped that number against the Mocs with a season-best 51.7% night. Georgia Southern drained 11 three-pointers in the game and posted 10 steals while holding Chattanooga to a 37% mark in the first half from the field.
Appalachian State is coming off a 78-64 win over UNCG on Thursday night behind 24 points by Omar Carter. The Mountaineers are 3-0 at home, but have struggled on the road with a 1-2 mark away from Boone. ASU fell on the road to ETSU (81-68) and East Carolina (67-47), but defeated Tennessee Tech, 68-63.
