Eagles Continue Road Swing Against South Alabama

STATESBORO, Ga. - With final exams in the books, Georgia Southern Men's Basketball returns to the hardwood on Monday evening against South Alabama. The Eagles will look to avenge last season's 68-58 loss to the Jaguars at Hanner Fieldhouse. Monday's game starts at 8:05 p.m. (ET) and can be heard on the Georgia Southern Radio Network.
Sophomore Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) paces the 2011-12 Eagles with 16.4 points per game, posting 131 points in the season's first eight games. Senior Ben Drayton III (St. Marys, Ga.) is approaching the 100 point milestone this season with 97 at a 12.1 points per game clip. He has 1,236 career points to lead all active Southern Conference scorers.
The 3-5 Eagles look to win their fourth game of the season and snap a 23-game road losing streak. Georgia Southern, however, leads the Southern Conference with a 2-0 mark in league play following wins over Chattanooga and Appalachian State.
South Alabama (5-3) survived a close encounter with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday night, winning 66-64. Augustine Rubit leads the team with 15.9 points per game. Rubit is also the team's top rebounder with 8.6 boards per game. The Jaguars have averaged 40.0 rebounds per game while holding opponents to 32.3
Georgia Southern will see a familiar face on the Jaguar bench on Monday night with former head coach Jeff Price serving as Associate Head Coach at USA.
Following Monday's game, Georgia Southern travels to Georgia State on Thursday, December 22nd, for a test against the Panthers before breaking for Christmas. The Eagles return to play on the road against Auburn on Friday, December 30th and play their next home game on Monday, January 2nd, against Brewton-Parker at Hanner Fieldhouse.
