Eagles Return Home to Face Webber International

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball goes for its first win of the season on Friday night at home against Webber International. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on Eagle Vision at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com and can be heard locally on 103.7-FM.
The Eagles are fresh off a near-miss at Wake Forest on Wednesday night. The Eagles cut the Demon Deacon advantage to five points in the second half and had the momentum until Wake scored six points in one trip down the floor to take control of the game. Georgia Southern fell, 81-72 to fall to 0-2 this season.
Jelani Hewitt (Miramar, Fla.) scored 18 points on the night to share the team-lead in scoring with fellow sophomore Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.). Hewitt was 5-of-7 from downtown against the Deacs with four coming in the second half. Ferguson paired the big night with four blocks.
The Eagles are 2-0 all-time against Webber International with wins in 1997 and 2006. Georgia Southern had five scorers in double figures en route to a 111-73 win over the Warriors on January 3rd, 2006. Elton Nesbitt scored 18 while Louis Graham added 17 in the win.
The Warriors (NAIA) opened the season with wins over Montreat and Florida College before dropping their last five contests. Webber fell, 69-50, in its last outing against South Carolina State up in Orangeburg, S.C. David Swan and Tyler Auerbacher each scored 10 points in the game while Gabriel Rutledge had 10 rebounds as the Warriors were beaten 49-28 on the rebounding glass.
Georgia Southern takes to the road on Wednesday, November 23rd for a Thanksgiving week game against South Florida. The game will be played at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
